I really liked this story! The setting is a "near future" Africa -- modernized, not futuristic. The protagonist is a police detective with a very ordinary life. He's a single father caring for his son -- and trying to juggle that responsibility with his job. He's investigating an unusual death and encountering a bit of "yesterday's Africa" in the process.The mystery proceeds logically and is foreshadowed, but the ending still surprised me.
